- Nearly half of U.S. adults have high blood pressure.
- High blood pressure increases risk for heart disease and stroke.
- Many adults with high blood pressure do not have it under control.
- About 50.8% of U.S. men aged 18+ have hypertension, defined as a systolic reading over 130 mm Hg, diastolic over 80 mm Hg, or being on blood pressure medication CDC.
- This is higher than the overall U.S. adult rate of 48.1% CDC.Men are more likely than women to have uncontrolled hypertension (50% vs. 42.1%)”
